all good stuff, but more good stuff now.
I started creating the star system and it turned out to be a trinary star
system, and the far companion turned out to be a type M0V
which has it's own habitable zone!
I have decided to relocate the base there and create a different primary
UPP. which means I now have a star spangled adventure in hand!
The base itself I have decided was the launch point for Genassist projects
in the surrounding subsectors, possibly the corporate headquarters for the
whole sector, even though it is nowhere near central to the sector, just
central to the worlds in question. and since it is now orbiting an
uninteresting far companion, it's detection would have been minimized even
before the collapse and vampire fleets.
Genassist was doing the ages old 'evil' of tampering with human DNA by
adding certain strands from Native, Terran, and Alien DNA pulled from stocks
of Top Level Predators with the intent of being able to field shock troops
with heavy weapons without the need of powered armor, and being carnivorous,
still able to 'live off the land' as it were.
so now there is the shell of a shipyard capable of constructing ships, but
controlled by carnivore / cannibal human hybrids that see humans as just
another protein source. Bears were done as potential PCS for the T20
campaign, and they are rather docile for the ideas coming to mind (Perhaps
that's why genassist scrubbed the project after all), so that means other
TLPs would have been used. Lions and TIgers come to mind (Oh My 8-) Cheetahs
come to mind as well. Aslan Sprinters eat your hearts out!
Any ideas for Alien Dna hybrids out there???
As for a lab ship, does anyone here remember what the Solomani used as the
equivalent? I can't find it in any of the source books I have on hand. I do
know that the Solomani were up to T16 in life sciences per source material
(issue 13 of the travellers digest, page 26 communications, medical and
environment all at T16.), so that would mean any labships they had would be
the find of the century for for a backwater empire with tech 12 as its best.

The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to
think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane.
