The other fun is conventional manufacturing techniques would still be needed for some alloys. I.e. alloys made in zero-G to get better strength or other properties would not be viable in a 3D printer. The 3-D printing process either would not use metal to connect the parts, or the heat of the sintering process would cause the materials to separate, removing most of the benefits.
