However, I would come back at you with these:
1. If the epic visualization of the adventure setting is better served by
cavernous hall with flashing lights, then that is what it should be.
2. I take Moore's Law very seriously, or rather its more important
corollary, which is that people come up with crap to fill that increased
capacity, quicker than you can develop the capacity. As just one example,
the SCORM standard as used by the Army requires all courseware to be
packaged as self-contained, separate "objects," each containing all of the
reference material. So if you have a course with 32 lessons, each about
100 MB, and a 6GB reference library, each of the 30 lessons has to be
exported as 100 MB plus 6 GB, so you have multiplied your storage
requirement by 32 needlessly. And the number of DVD trees we have to kill
is appalling. PEOPLE. ARE. STUPID. We will keep finding ways to fill up
the computers of the future with everyone's complete Facebook page
updates, and every re-tweeted tweet, and everyone's copy of everyone
else's friends list, and all of the backups.
So yes, it's a big, cool, echoing chamber, with little critters flapping
past the dim lights recessed into the ceiling, the sound of water dripping
in the distance, and something just skittered across your foot.
