The contest(?) was for a mining ship design ...
 IMHO the Type J would qualify - barely it would definitly be small potatoes though only really suitable for a prospector.  And significant strikes/finds would be better dealt with by a larger vessel.  Still a small fleet of prospectors supporting a (much) larger operation could be viable.

I liked the write up on the J cause he specified downgrading the electronics suite and turret being slaved to a position on the bridge (I kinda figured that was mil spec anyway but the way he wrote it up it seems that 1. the bridge controls/programs are not mil-spec and the on-mount gunner position being eliminated makes it difficult for the J to be used for piracy effectively without considerable rework.)

I have a design that I started, but never finished. I would love to submit it (I thought I missed the deadline so put it off). I can likely have it done by the end of this weekend, if that would be okay.
