This was always something that made me laugh about the old guard, so you're
willing to let go Jump Drives that take you from a to b in a week regardless
of the real distance travelled, Anti-Gravity, genetically engineered Wolves,
Pocket Dimensions, psionics and the human race being seeded all over the
galaxy but a silicon based life form that can live inside of computers is
completely off because it's to unrealistic. Wow. Really?
I'm of the in for a penny in for a pound type of people, the cymbline chips
had already been written in as a part of the lore, you can bet your backside
some crazy mother's going to try and weaponize them. So I just shrugged,
said their computers are so far ahead of ours I'll just go with it and tried
not to think about it.
A lot of my friends thought that destroying the 3rd Imperium was going too
far, oh they should have stopped here and then everything would have come
back with a bunch of smaller groups. After reading through all of the MT
source books and Survival Margin that none of the old groups deserved to
survive with the exceptions of Norris and Craig, they all had far too much
blood on their hands and every one of them deserved to go, although getting
mulched by a thresher might have been a little excessive. Plus, the problem
with a bunch of smaller pocket empires is you'd still end up with a war to
reunite the Imperium, none of them were ever going to willingly walk away
from the throne. The war would just start up all over again in another
decade.
I always wondered about the Spiri, my RCES character was a Spiri and I tried
to play a kind of Buddhist shaman. I have a degree in archaeology and
anthropology but I still had a rough time wrapping my head around how to
play the character. I probably came across as more of a weed smoking, tree
hugging hippy. Then the GM threw in the whole clones of my character
everywhere we went.
