I wouldn't use the word "pushed," because that makes it sound more
manipulative than it is.
What happens is you just have ideas about the way a line could go, and
that was definitely the way Frank's ideas were running at that point.
However, the plastic Clippers and boardgame would have been more like a
strategic expansion in space game, more along the lines of Axis and
Allies. And as I said in another post, a lot of that possible future got
reinvested in the effort required by DJ. We never made a decision to NOT
do the SV boardgame, it just faded away over time. Minion Hunter was the
first game made to use those hard boards, SV could have been another, but
other things happened, money got tighter, and plastic injection molding
was just no longer an option, which took the fun out of an Axis and Allies
style game.

That reminds me that a 'Star Viking' PBM (PBEM?) was announced around the start of TNE. Did anything come of that? I think there were ads in Challenge. There was also "Top Laser", which IIRC was a Brilliant Lances convention game, advertised - yes, actualised - ?

Was the PBM from GDW or someone else? I don't remember that.
The "Top Laser" was us, a successor to Trillion Credit Squadron. No, that
never happened, unless someone else ran some. I never did.

The PBM I think was mentioned in the Planet 3 "Traveller Navigator", now freeware - so I guess a licenced product.

If that's the one I'm thinking of, it was the one that was a hypertext
stack, and I did do some significant work with the guy for a while, and
then something happened, and I don't remember after that. I don't remember
it mentioning a PBM, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
