That's beyond my recollection, but sounds like the kind of thing we would
have heard about, and I don't remember hearing about anything like that.
Not saying it's not true.
If it is true, it's one more example of how hard it is to do our typical
Traveller thing and try to simulate everything. And I say this based on
the fact that of all of the stuff in FF&S, firearms was the section that
was the most painstakingly tested and retested and retested by all and
sundry.

I just recall finding this when I was goofing about with Anitti from the Viborg sites FF&S spreadsheet. I recall checking out the calculations and seeing nothing that looked hinky. I'd check now but the gov't of BC frowns upon me downloading stuff at work.

Despite having a degree in archaeology I work in law enforcement, what you'd call the DOT truck squad.
It's quite all-right no offense taken. It's friday for me and I was booking out early for Fathers Day

I'm kind of working out of the dark recesses of my mind here but the round was say 15mm across and the chemical cartridge was 20mm long with a necked end. Think rifle cartridge profile (necked)vs. pistol cartridge profile (straight).
In theory the 5mm round should go a lot further it's got roughly the same amount of powder and weighs less.
