I'm kind of working out of the dark recesses of my mind here but the round was say 15mm across and the chemical cartridge was 20mm long with a necked end. Think rifle cartridge profile (necked)vs. pistol cartridge profile (straight).
In theory the 5mm round should go a lot further it's got roughly the same amount of powder and weighs less.

You'd have to be a bit more specific Derek. I don't understand what you're getting at from what you have posted. 15mm round with 20mm necked cartridge??
