A question was raised about ore processors a short while ago and as iI used an ore processor in one of my designs, below are the stats I used.
I'm curious is there a minimum size that starships can be built? In FFS-1 page 42 it states that the smallest a jump drive can be made is 2m3. Using rules I found in the site Traveller in the DED zone---Heretical engineering. Jump drives built for micro jumps "in system" are half the size of a jump-1 drive for the same size ship. So a 2m3 drive would give J-0 to a 200m3 volume(14.285D Ton) ship.
In FFS-1 page 61, fuel processors the minimum size, is that the minimum size of the fuel processor machinery or is that the minimum volume of the fuel processed? I have always gone with it being the minimum size of the machinery, meaning that a minimal TL-12 processor would process 200m3/6 hours. Its just the way the last line under the chart is worded that puts a question mark in my mind.
Ore Processors
TL Volume Mass Power Price Output
12 1m3 0.5 0.6mw 0.003 0.018m3/hour*
Mass: is /m3
Power: is /m3
Price: is /m3
Output: is m3
*Depending on the richness of the ore deposit.
There is no minimum size so I suppose you could design a processor as small as one of those portable power generators you see at construction sites. Ore processors need attendance one hour/day/m3. I suspect this would entail pouring the molten ore into forms and changing the full forms for empties.
>>I'm curious is there a minimum size that starships can be built?<<
Before TNE, 100 tons was the minimum size. TNE said that starships could
have displacements less than 100 tons. It cause quite the outcry among
the canonistas. I'm not sure if there was an official compromise, but I
think I remember something about needing TL-15 drives to do it. That
being said, there's a TL-15 "Jboat" in Regency Sourcebook which consists
of a 30 ton Ship's Boat with a 25 ton jump module welded on the back.

Ack! Those are Heretical rules! I didn't think anyone outside of MTU
would use them! You could be burned alive for using them! ; )
I didn't intend for the jump drives themselves to be shrunk, **only the
fuel required** to achieve the microjump. Since previous editions all
had minimum sizes required for jump drives, I stuck with that concept. I
figured that the ship's jump drives need to be a minimum size in order
to open the hole into jumpspace or create the bubble that surrounds the
ship or whatever explanation you use to describe jumps in Traveller.
And if you know what's good for you, never use those rules again! ; )

Minimum size of processor machinery. As TL improves, engineers figure
out how to shrink the equipment.
Is there any chance you could post your Ridgerunner specs into a regular
post. When I use Word to open the wps file you uploaded, I get a lot of
ASCII garbage. I could edit it, but it would take a long time. =)

I've long believed that was a typo/errata and should have read 28m3. The error being they either dropped the "8" in entering the value, or took the 2ton minimum from HG et al and forgot to change the value when changing the units to fit FF&S1. So it's not 2m3 but 2tons, or more properly 28m3. No big deal, they screwed up the text, not the long held standard minimum drive size, nor the 100dton minimum ship size.

Where? Precisely. I don't recall TNE stating that starships could be less than 100dtons. I do recall some designs being created after the fact, based on what I believe was an error, the 2m3 (imo) errata idiocy above. I saw that on my very first read of the rules when first published and was sure it was a mistake, but I don't recall anywhere the rules saying starships can be less than 100tons displacement. If I had then I wouldn't have felt it was a mistake. Maybe I've missed that all these years. If so I'd stand corrected on it being errata, it would simply be (imo) idiocy of the first order then ;-)
I know that Marc (Miller) has confirmed that the 100-ton minimum ship size is definitely errata for TNE, and your suggestion of 28m3 makes a great deal of sense related to that. Do you have a recommendation for where this errata should be placed?

How can it be errata for TNE? TNE specifically introduced a sub 100-ton jump-capable ship.

Does this mean that the sub 100dt starship (cannt remember its name) in the
Regency Sourcebook has been decanonised?
