A question was raised about ore processors a short while ago and as iI used an ore processor in one of my designs, below are the stats I used.
I'm curious is there a minimum size that starships can be built? In FFS-1 page 42 it states that the smallest a jump drive can be made is 2m3. Using rules I found in the site Traveller in the DED zone---Heretical engineering. Jump drives built for micro jumps "in system" are half the size of a jump-1 drive for the same size ship. So a 2m3 drive would give J-0 to a 200m3 volume(14.285D Ton) ship.
In FFS-1 page 61, fuel processors the minimum size, is that the minimum size of the fuel processor machinery or is that the minimum volume of the fuel processed? I have always gone with it being the minimum size of the machinery, meaning that a minimal TL-12 processor would process 200m3/6 hours. Its just the way the last line under the chart is worded that puts a question mark in my mind.
Ore Processors
TL Volume Mass Power Price Output
12 1m3 0.5 0.6mw 0.003 0.018m3/hour*
Mass: is /m3
Power: is /m3
Price: is /m3
Output: is m3
*Depending on the richness of the ore deposit.
There is no minimum size so I suppose you could design a processor as small as one of those portable power generators you see at construction sites. Ore processors need attendance one hour/day/m3. I suspect this would entail pouring the molten ore into forms and changing the full forms for empties.
