After much hunting around for info on the Rimward and Trailing borders of
the AO, I discovered Scott Nolan's four sector map .jpg from 2014 in the
files on the forum this afternoon.
I'm curious to know what the sources for this are because the published
material from back in the day seems to contradict this version with the
borders on both those directions disappearing into adjacent subsectors that
were never officially mapped.
Is it an IMTU version, something that arose through broader fan discussion
and agreement about this information gap, or does this appear in later
material like the 1248 stuff?

Hi Abdul. I belive the raw data for the four sector map of Scott's comes strait from B.A.R.D. Check out the OPEL files, this is where i think the data came from for three of the four sectors, the fourth, Solomani Rim I belive came from the Traveller Chronicals #10. Both these sources are not Cannon sources, but are fan writen and supported. They have been around for so long and are so well written that I treat them as cannon.
The AO I remember reading was set up as a comprimise between the Federalists led by Aubaine and the Centeralists le by Oriflamme. As I remember Federalists/Aubaine wanted to go out and meet, greet and help worlds throughout Diasproia and the Old Expanses sectors. Oriflamme, offically, was worried that this would squander resources over too wide an area too fast and could lead to the economic collapse of the Coalition. Unoffically Oriflamme was worried that if the Federalists wre successful in helping a number of worlds, these worlds would join the Coalition and side with or join as Federalists and the Centeralists would loose voting power in the Coalition Assembly. Oriflamme also wanted a free hand in the subsectors trailing and rimward of the Oriflamme subsector so the AO boarder stops at the boarder of Shenk/Karse subsectors. This gives Centralists/Oriflamme a free hand, but hems in Federalist/Aubaine. The Federalists would I belive, neatly side step the AO by using lobbying groups to sponser clvilian-Lancer groups to do the jobs the RCES are not allowed to do. Roger
As he states, the maps are based on data found at BARD and The Zhodani
Base. So it's a mix of fan-based and canonical data that he uses in his
campaign. It doesn't match up with 1248.
In the first 1248 sourcebook, /Out of the Darkness/, the RC expands and
becomes the Freedom League. There's the rise of The United Worlds in
Diaspora. The Terran Commonwealth occupies most of the Solomani Rim
sector. The Solomani Imperium occupies most of the Neworld sector, but
peeks into the rimward fringe of Alpha Crucis.

Is Scott still active on the list? I'm making good progress on The Old
Expanses, but not having to reinvent the wheel would be awesome.
Particularly since I want to submit the data and metadata to Joshua for
possible future inclusion on travellermap.
