Thread: (Off-topic) Multi-axis game board

2 posts.

Try the games by Ad Astra (http://www.adastragames.com/):

* Saganami Island Tactical Simulator - play ship vs ship battles in the Honorverse
* Attack Vector Tactical - semi-hard science starship combat board game, you have to balance power produced vs heat dissipated. Run out of power and you can't fire weapons, but if you bring the reactor up to full you'll produce too much heat and cook the crew.

They include the Z axis, and you can get a rough estimate of the relative distance between two ships. The game stands have a 'negative' tile to represent that you are 'below' the board, and other tiles for heights of 1, 4, and 16 (think base four math with up to 3 positions, and a negative bit).

Plus I like their game rule in case of a tie - "Round in favor of blowing something up".

(semi-back on topic) Perhaps these rules could be converted for Traveler use?

I would love to see a board game with
telescoping z axis stands.  Colored and notched and or
ratcheted perhaps...
Easier on a computer simulation.  Also would
happily model detailed BL level damage...

It seems there's some blokes working on exploring that idea.
