For places like the wilds, it's all effectively barter anyway.

You trade a cargo of X and commidities Y & Z for a cargo of W & V,
and get commodituy U as the "change".

("commodities" in the above would be stuff like precious metals,
gems, and low volume/mass but valuable items that are useful or
recognized as valuable pretty much anywhere)

Heck, even in *normal* areas, that's the way free traders operate,
except that they use money for the "filler" instead of the
"commodities".
