I couldn't remember if we had published a notional date for that or not.
But we must have, as you pointed out, because I do recollect discussion
with people about how that felt "too soon," and I replied that that was
just the leading edge of exploratory missions, and not the main bodies.

IIRC, the idea is that the Sandman storyline would allow the RC to start
taking over vampire ships (Puppeteer virus which can take over other
vampire ships is allied with RC) so that attention that they do get can
allow them to increase their numbers. That doesn't mean that all vampire
ships now = RC, you'd still have to fight some, sometimes lose, but if RC
has their own vampires now and can turn other vampires to their side,
vampire attacks are more manageable than they were.

I was thinking the same thing about direct Hiver Navy intervention, so
that would be a possiblity if the Hivers felt their manipulation to get
the RC to stand on its own as a buffer against dangerous humans were in
danger of failing. So that is a legitimate course of action, but one that
Hivers and RC as well would want to consider only as a latter resort.
