I never really understood the "old boys" hatred for TNE. Maybe it was because instead of advancing the storyline one day at a time it took one giant leap for gaming kind and made their Earl of Sandwich and his 700,000 battle tender and associated fleet null and void.
I never quite understood it, to be honest most of my early memories of CT were not positive. I felt like I was in the Sith Empire and not the 3rd Imperium as most of the early groups I joined were more interested in killing off the new guys and using the Kinninur as an oversized pirate ship. I also felt that characters actions in the Imperium amounted to nothing, the imperium was so vast nothing you did ever amounted to anything anywhere. Sure you could help LSP make its 3rd quarter profit targets by sabotaging the other guys factory.
TNE on the other hand your actions mattered, RCES was on such a shoe string that if you succeeded or failed it made a huge impact on the future of the RC. I liked that, made you feel like you were accomplishing something.
