Gibson, yes the father of cyberpunk, had some neat ideas for tech in his virtual light book, I think there's a series he's written about some near future, Pattern Recognition, Spook Country and Zero History have some very cool ideas about non-cyber tech, technologies. Some of which have started happening. Geotagged art that you can only see with your smart device. Stuff like that.
