What happened to Martin? He had some good stuff but didn't seem
to take criticismto well and maybe too thin skinned for the
vicious Traveller crowd

Yes, No, Kinda.....
Avenger was Martin's company that was doing Ct-ish/TNE-ish sorts
of books and was publishing under his own imprint with a License
from FFE.
Then Mongoose cam along and Licensed Traveller and as part of
those negotiations all of the 3rd party where sunset-ed including
Avenger. (Side-note; as it it was explained to me this was to
unify the line for re-realeasing Traveller under the OGL. Then
said licensees' would be free to publish under the terms of the
Traveller OGL.)
Lastly Avenger in partnered with Mongoose released the 1248, as
well as through FFE.
At least that was how Martin explained it, but the subject hasn't
come up in a long time so this is what I remember. --
