I never saw any of the 1248 materials, as much as I wanted to see it I never saw any of it available locally and by the time it did reach print I'd long since given up on any of my "local" gaming stores.

Unless you have some kind of direct familial connection, say your great great great grandfather had done something special or suffered some horrible fate, the distance through time makes the connection much more difficult to make.
