I haven’t read the final MtG rules, but I have seen examples of the character generation system.

I see nothing wrong with including a more story based character generation system. one with a more random element.

Back in the early 80 I played a computer game that was called “Alter Ego” on the C64. Through a series of choises and random events you lived a virtual life. After 200 or so events you ended your life at an (hopefully) old age and got a summary of how you had done. FASA’s Renegade Legion roleplaying game got something similar, but just limited to your intial years in the military. There you could get wounded and that could in turn alter your final stats. Death was not an option though.

In this article I have based some events on which skills you choose during the character generation in traveller. http://www.travellerfreeport.com/houserules/58-spicing-up-character-generation.html

Subject: [Traveller_TNE] Character Generation

All this sudden springing back into life, like someone has poured kero on the flame got mt to thinking about by old Banners Sector campaign.

One of the problems we had was with the character generation system, after playing for so many years players were able to tell a characters generation history by the skills sets. So I was wondering, the Mongoose system has an option for purchase of stats and skills. Does anyone see a problem using this character generation system with the existing TNE mechanics?

I know some of the skills have different names but both character gen systems seemed to be based off a d6 system so I was wondering...
