Hi, Davis!
Well I HAVE been busy with being an Army contractor! Geez! :-)
However, I have to admit that being a "Robert E. Lee," and an "absent
watchmaker" are quite flattering. If I had known that my self-imposed exile
was turning me into a god-like martyr to The Cause, rather than just a
maligned putz, I might have...Idunno, enjoyed it more. :-) Significantly,
on this list, I may in fact be a member of "The Cause," rather than just
that no-good, rebel traitor Bobby Lee.
And for long periods of time, I did not want to be drawn back into
discussions, for reasons that I alluded to in my messages earlier today,
all of which are very real (but could slog through again if it helps people
to understand why I did it, and perhaps dispel some of the bad feeling).
Something that occurred to me about a month ago that I think fed into all
of that was the supposed "vow of silence" that I had imposed on others.
That was actually a "white lie" come up with by someone else that I agreed
to go along with. While I would still probably go along with it again, as
it provided aid to a friend of mine who deserved that aid, let this be
another lesson, as if one were needed, that there are no such things as
"white" lies. They all come back to bite you and do wickedness.
"Besides, I was busy with real-world stuff."
See, it happens!
No, I don't fear "fan-boy gushing." I look at this as a reunion of some
people that had a shared love for something that made sense to us, if not
others.
I'm sorry to have been gone for so long. I had to get Washington-Lee
University running again, you know.
