Joules are energy. Watts are power (energy per unit time)
A 1 MW plant produces 1 Mj per second.
Or to put it another way, 1 Mj is 1 MW-sec.
To use more "familiar" terms, one kilowatt-hour (what they charge you
for on your electric bill is however many kW-hrs) is 3600 kW-sec, or
3.6 MW-sec or 3.6 Mj
