I was there for the TML screaming fits too.
My take was that whatever story GDW had used to reboot the Traveller
Universe would have met with the same response.
Let's face it, complaining about something being a problem because it's
technically impossible is scarcely rational in a setting with Faster Than
Light travel, anti-gravity and inertialess propulsion systems.
Never mind Grandfather Ancient's back pocket...
