EMP based anti-virus weapons

DED wrote about NNEMP weapons. I'm also looking for an EMP based anti-robot weapon.
First, would fiber-optic cable improve the magnetic field problons with the wire?
If the power must be included in the weapon, instead of a spear approch that is connected to the power pack by wire.

Would a "whole unit" weapon fit into say a 40 mm grenade-sized projectile be possible? Here I'm thinking "mega-tazer".
I picture the grenade being carried inert and shortly before firing the backpack charges the grenade. Carried inert would be for safety reasions. Last thing I would want to do is, while diving for cover to land on a live tazer round.
These grenade rounds would I believe be reuseanle, if recovered.

I am also looking into using high-pulse maser weapon to "cook" the robot's electronics. This is still in the scrach my head and think about it stage. If someone wants to try it out let me know how it works out, and if it works at all.

If RL would give me a break, I've been thinking about a Mason Rifle. Even if the blast was only the size of a large firecracker, you are almost sure to hit something vital in the close confines of a robot.

An interesting subject. Currently our charaters use the "old" approch, captured 14.5 mm crunch gun with TL-11 DS rounds. Oh-my aching back!!!
