It's always kind of bugged me, I know it's a matter of publishing to your intended audience, but I've always thought it much more likely just based on population and demographics that Terran ships would have class names like Shiva and Ganesh or Ying Long and Chang'e.
I get it that the vast majority of the readers of the material are westerners and typically Americans but if the world ever comes together under a single flag the Capital is as likely to be Shanghi, Tokyo or Mumbai as it is to b New York or Brussels.
