Of course a lot of this was part of that old Star Wars strand in Traveller, in which the Imperium was the Evil Empire. It produced lots of Han Soloes, but very few, umm, Princess Leias. Or even Luke Skywalkers.
Not many canonical Darth Vaders, though.

But ignore me, I've just spent the last decade playing superhero games. I've managed to master-gearhead the Flash and Aquaman, and now I'm bored.
Time for Traveller again, or should I revisit Old School DnD (because the newer stuff melts my head, and my potential players haven't played it)?
Either way, I need easy freeform stupid rules, that don't get in the way of the jokes.
And even when I'm playing historical miniatures, I'm not that interested in looking up tables. My ideal game is Kampfgruppe Peiper on the Kokoda Track, versus nearly anyone.
