Funny how actual history becomes "canon" in Traveller by being referenced
there. It would be an interesting experiment to think of historical events
not yet mentioned in Traveller (therefore in danger of existentially
disappearing) and seeing if you could rewrite that bit of history. Have
some character say, "that39;s like Hannibal crossing the Rubicon," and then
maybe Julius Caesar ends up with an army of elephants. Arguably Traveller
is on an alternate timeline because of Yaskoydray harvesting the
Australopithecines, but equally arguably it's not, because how do we know
he didn't?
Re: Brigham Young, that was 9th grade, and I had not known he was a
Mormon, I just knew it from the name of the University, and the name is
phonetically very pleasing and powerful.
