I haven't read the thread, but I assume the ship is easily explained as "a
mistake," rather than, "here is this canonical thing and you're not
allowed to make one, the rules say so." Mistakes are easy.

The inability of an SFRPG design sequence being written on deadlines by
people getting paid $20K/yr to produce everything in the real world boils
down to, "Duh."
