Did you look at the actual stats from the report?

The US had one of the *lowest* percentages for people who think that the
sun goes around the Earth - number 2, the only country with a better
percentage was South Korea. Most of Europe and Canada, for example, was
around 1 in 3 that thinks the Sun orbits the Earth and much of South
America was even worse.

Typical example of media twisting facts to make a political point...
