Thanks. Yeah, I've seen that, that was the COTI command performance from
2004. Amazing how many of my words are still floating around out there.
Whatever this guy was referring to came out while GDW was alive. We always
put designer's notes in wargames, but I don't think we ever put them in
RPGs, but I could be wrong.
In retrospect, I think it would have been a good idea to put out some kind
of designer's notes or intro to TNE to the effect, "Hey, old-time
Traveller players. Here's why we did what we did, here were some of the
possibilities we considered, and here's why we chose this one as the most
fair and honest way to go."
On the other hand, it is likely that I suggested that at the time but was
told:
1. No, this is supposed to attract new players, so you can't wrap it in a
conversation with old ones, and
2. No, that will look like an apology and will have the opposite intended
result, let the work speak for itself.
Those thoughts sound familiar, so may be what happened.
