And that is one of their best mistakes. it enabled referees to design equipment that was internally consistent as everything was made (more or less) to the same yardstick. Mistakes exists. Some was corrected pretty quick (Fusion weapons) others are still in need of correction/revision. had GDW been able to live a few years more, I am sure new revisions with downloadable spreadsheets would see the day.

All in all FF&S was after PoT the best Traveller product written for TNE.

So when you get down to it, we're right back to, "only GDW makes
mistakes," by agreeing to put the thing out.

Yeah, and that's what I think as well. We went at it as a "bold mistake,"
basically writing a blank check to the future, fully intending to follow
through on it. And we were always running down more things we wanted to
address, and saving them up to publish in the next edition, or Challenge
article, or appendix in the next product. The thing that is frustrating to
me is being reminded again that by going under, we never had a chance to
finish what we started.

Frank had a saying, "If you make a mistake, people will talk about it
forever, but if you fix it, they'll never forgive you." So that kind of
blank check was definitely a tightrope act.

Spreadsheets is one of the things I wish the most that we had implemented.
Certainly they existed back then, but not with the same ubiquity they do
now, so we didn't manage to add that to our toolkit.
