We had the same thing with RAFM, where the scale of a ship had to be, "the
amount of metal to keep them all around the same price," rather than
consistent prototype scale. And the spheres are always a booger precisely
because of the fact that a sphere is the most efficient way to contain the
maximum volume: of metal, which has a cost per ounce. So you have to cast
them hollow, with the attendant assembly issues.
