The apology first:
I've sort of been overlooking this list because (a) there seemed to be
little activity, and (b) most of it seemed to be over signatures that I
seemed to recall seeing elsewhere - the TML, SFRPG, CotI, or Mongoose.
The explosion of activity that greeted Dave's return has indicated
otherwise. I'm sorry for slighting what is obviously a true Traveller
community, and I won't do it again - from now on, you'll get direct
copies of Freelance Traveller's monthly announcements.
Which leads to the invitation:
Freelance Traveller prints based on what gets submitted. I don't write
everything; I merely collect what the community sends, and put out a
decent mix of types of articles every month. I'm not running a "Third
Imperium" magazine; I'm not running a "Mongoose Traveller" magazine; I'm
running a Traveller fanzine. TNE is Traveller. Thus, I am inviting the
TNE community to write articles for Freelance Traveller, on the same "I
can't pay and I don't/can't charge, but the rights are yours" basis that
I've been running first the website and more recently the magazine. Your
writing will get fair consideration, just as everything else does.
A third item comes to mind... I've been to the last two TravellerCon/USA
cons, and I don't seem to recall much TNE there. Might I suggest that
some of you come this year - it's the weekend of November 9th - and make
an effort to change that? Registration hasn't opened yet (unless you
want to be a vendor or referee), but it is expected to in mid-July. $30
for con admission, and $95 per night at the con hotel isn't really all
that much... (I'm not the organizer, but I have no objection to boosting
