Designer's Notes: When I first started Mercy I was thinking it would resemble a CH-54 Heavy Lift Helicopter. My plan was to have the ship capable of carrying a single 200 Ton module at J-3 out into the wilds and be able to recover up to a 400 Ton derelict ship and return with it to the Coalition at J-2. My problem here is the grapple, in the rules it states that the grapple has to be designed for one type of craft carried. I think the four most common derelicts to be found in the wilds would be the Scout/Courier, Free Trader, Far Trader and the SDB, and to have to make four ships to recover these four ships seems like a waste. The grapple I was thinking of was like the one on Howard Hughes ship that he designed to recover that sub off the bottom of the Pacific. It looks like an open clam-shell cage that when closed forms a basket. So this is the one place I digressed from the FF+S rules.
Modules I've designed are Stretched Box 22.2x 18x 7 meters or
Truncated Slab 44.4x 18x 3.5 meters.
I've designed three modules for Mercy and will submit them over the next few days, but feel free to add your own, that's the beauty behind Mercy, every Coalition world can contribute modules of their own design.
Enjoy the ship and let me know what you think.
Mercey Class Wilds Support Ship
To respond to the Spirian request for a "Wilds Support Ship" Jain's Astro Architects proudly unveil the designs for Mercey, a ship designed to support bootstrap operations in the wilds.
Mercey is designed to carry a 200 D Ton module to any location in the wilds at jump 3. When not supporting bootstrap operations Mercey can recover ships up to 400 d Tons in size or she can be hired to carry a modules out to sites of a civilian recovery operations, or act as a freight hauler inside the Coalition.
