Those are certainly "efficiency" staterooms.

I realize that labs come standard at 4 tons, but I'm wondering what a Geologist would need that much space for. At Traveller tech the XRD machinery will probably be pretty compact and will probably also double as the visual microscope. A rocksaw and grinder designed for cores won't take up a lot of room either. Sample storage isn't a big deal unless you are looking for volatiles and need refrigeration. The idea of doing wet chem tests in a ship environment that small is terrifying. All those lab elements would fit handily in 4 dtons at TL7. Once the XRD becomes a desktop device, that lab has enough room for the ship's poker table while still being a functional lab. I suppose part of the room could be used to store the core drill and other field equipment. Beware the Geologist in his lab, because "field equipment" legitimately includes high energy lasers, an x-ray source, various acids, and an assortment of hammers, chisels, and explosives...
