Looks interesting, I'd have to experiment with it some or more likely at the moment to see someone else's results to get a better handle on it. If it's ~70# for the dish and 'gas' I'd say it's not worth it but the blurb says it includes the electronics...suitcase satcom rigs are not that new and I'm familiar with the 8' and some of the smaller dishes... the big issue with them is when the wind starts to blow. At the moment I'm not convinced that the balloon variant is better able to handle winds in the 20mph/35kph+ range. However I do see use for this in any number of situations where winds in the low to mid range are not an issue.
Of more interest is the fact that he's apparently rigged his system to make use of multiple dishes for additional gain...to my knowledge this has only been done by the scientific community for some of their radio astronomy systems.
