Reminds me of a game I ran pre TNE or even MT. while ferrying a trade
diplomat, the PCs thought it would be cute to interfere in a Tech 3 land
battle. They were even so cute as to fly there Type S in low over the
aggressors army as a show of force. strangely, they artillerymen were
seemingly happy to have a largish target close enough to actually hit with
roundshot. 8-) after the first broadside (and a resounding 5 headaches from
said thumping), the PCs wisely decided to raise altitude before the
artillerymen thought to double bag the next round!.
While the PCs did a satisfactory job of incinerating the offending
battery park with a single shot from the Turret, They did take home the
lesson that even an ancient iron ball, at high enough of a velocity and
short enough a range, MIGHT penetrate a skin as thin as a scouts.
