I like hearing that players were able to use those "hooks" and "building
blocks" that way. That's how we hoped players could use them, but there
was never much opportunity to follow up on those alternative universe
things. Too busy fixing firearms and tanks and stuff. A couple times we
discussed some "wish lists," where we said, "take this alt universe
concept with that one and you get this novel," "take those two and get
that movie," and it was fun to try to make sure that we put in enough
"modules" to allow those possibilities, but never got to take it to the
next level. There were always a couple hundred "here39;s a Challenge
magazine article to write some day" ideas.

That makes me think of that dumb Nancy Sinatra James Bond theme song: "You
only live twice, or so it seems: once for your life and once for your
dreams." (or words to that effect) Nice idea, but that extra life for the
dreams is running late.
