Dear Folks -
Well, _Survival Margin_ (and _Arrival Vengance_*) are two of my favourite
Traveller books. I agree with Doug Berry: the restoration of Strephon was the
most skillful retcon I've ever seen.
(*)Plus Doug's addendum to AV (which I can't find now, grr) where his TNE group
landed outside Strephon's palace at Usdiki, only to find a tomb (like Balin's)
with the inscription: "Here lies Strephon Aella Alkhalikoi, Emperor of the Third
Imperium. The Gods Punish Those Who Grow Too Proud.".
Doug said his group were silent for five minutes after that.
