Love the setting, overall. ;-)
What is the current year, though?
> We have encountered a number of alien species...
Ehh...
This may sound heretical, from a Traveller fan and all, but I've always viewed a plethora of sapient alien species as being not very plausible. (Not without setting the campaign tens of thousands of years into the future, and/or increasing the volume of explored space known to Man to encompass a significant portion of this galaxy.)
> Ramen and Tofu: If you don't like them curried and served
> with Dim Sum, you're going to starve to death quickly
> in the world of the future.
Better add some chopped bacon. ;-)
Seriously, we can raise pigs darned near anywhere, and feed them on the worst form of slops. And pork is the most often-used meat in Chinese cuisine, I believe. (Which would be a potential source of ethnic friction, given that Muslims form a significant minority among India's peoples.)
