Actually, yes! I had forgotten that I had directly transferred over at
least one of the names from my LoM campaig-n. I remembered, as I said,
trying to use some of the same feel, but forgot the literal carry-over.
Submarine fan, anything Navy-related. My grandfather was a submariner in
the old S-boats in the 1920s-30s, and I must have grown up on his stories.
Somewhere I still have his dolphins. I had a copy of Roscoe's Submarine
Ops of WW2 that I read cover-to-cover a few times before junior high
school (I'm still haunted by [Ted Freeman's?] painting of Cromwell riding
Sculpin down). Grider's War Fish, and of course all of Beach's novels.
