If you want a nuclear warhead to explode while being attacked by a Nuclear
Damper you fit it with both fission and fusion warheads. From the
description in FF&S the projector by disabling one will detonate the other.
This will not likely effect the ship using the ND as it will be at 30,000km
range so still a missile kill but you will get white-out effects in the hex
the warhead detonated in. Of course anything else in the same hex... It is
unlikely the a nuclear-pumped laser missile will have had time for its final
targeting so any lasers generated will be going off in more or less random
directions.
Of course at higher tech levels missiles may revert to chemical or direct
energy input lasers which will ignore ND defences, leading to the
introduction of rapid pulse weapons more sandcasters etc. So the cycle
continues.
