Reminds me of some ships I designed for a campaign in a proto-Pocket Empire in Quinoid Area in the Old Expanses (lots of TL-9 worlds, with one with a B port, two with C ports, and a TL-7 B-port too.

"Flatbed" - A Stellar Liner cut down to 400 dT, able to lift up to 200 dT at J-3, up to 400 dT at J-2, limiting out at 600 dT at J-1.

I also had a Bastien which had been bulked-out to 800 dT, J-2, and a TL-15 Stellar cut down to 480 dT, with J-4 capacity. The latter for use as an exploration vessel.

There were a few others: Yachts carrying a shuttle and cargo pods, a Merc Ship which was a Surveyor festooned with Modular Cutters, and a slimmed-down free trader which could hit J-2 and G-1.6-ish.

I wanted a feel of both human (sentient?) ingenuity, making the best of what was available - with the realization that there was a wall fast approaching (obsolescence and a tech slide) that only concerted and directed action could avoid, providing the genesis of the polity.
