Pat Ritter was based on LTC (later COL) Pat Ritter, commander of 1/34
Armor in Desert Storm. He was in Lon Maggart's brigade along with Greg
Fontenot, who command 2/34 AR.
Ritter was an advanced concepts guy at the Directorate of Force
Developments for a while, and then retired and did a lot of work in the
Battle Labs. I haven't spoken to him in years. He was a very focused guy,
always very aware of "what is the purpose, goal, and endstate of this
activity," so he wasn't easy to just hang out and shoot the $#!+ with. The
biggest thing he focused on in my portrayal of him was the survivor's
guilt, which he felt very strongly.
