Pods for Mercey- Wilds Support Ship

Part of thread: Pods for Mercey- Wilds Support Ship · 0 replies

Hello everyone, sorry I'm a little late posting these pods for Mercey, but the real world and winter caught up with me.

Designers Notes: When I first started these modules I was not sure if I wanted a one or two deck high design for them. As FF+S is only concerned with the length of a ship, and I was more concerned with the width and height of the modules. For a two deck module I use a box design measuring 22.2 x 18 x 7 meters and for a one deck design I use a slab design measuring 44.4 x 18 x 3.5 meters. I also had to create three new items for FF+S: Personal Hatch, Large and Small Cargo Airlocks.

The personal hatch was easy, I just reduced the large cargo hatch by a factor of 10 and the price by the same. These hatches have only the exterior door and in no other features of the airlock.

The Cargo Airlocks, not so easy. In most deck plans I've seen, say J-Hawks, the port and starboard hatches have an inner door and an outer door separated by two grid squares (3 or 4 meters). In FF+S they have no mass, volume, or power requirements which makes me feel they are more like a garage door than a supper sized airlock.
Below are the design criteria I used in designing the modules.

Vol Mass Power Area Price(MCr)
Personal Hatch - - - 2 0.002
Lg Cargo Airlock 80 2.0 0.01 20 0.13
Sm Cargo Airlock 48 1.2 0.006 12 0.08

Cargo Module
A two deck high module capable of carrying 198.4 d Tons of cargo. It has a four ton lift to provide access to the upper deck. The personal hatches are arranged port, starboard, and forward. The cargo hatches are arranged port, starboard and a double size one aft. Mercey has redundant life support and A-grav to support this module when attached as the module can not support itself.
Volume: 2800m3

Price: Cr213,575
Crew: None
Passengers: None
Tech Level: 10 (A)
Features: 4x Large Cargo Hatches, 3x Personal Hatches, 3000.475m2 Cargo

EV Cargo module
A one deck high module with its own life support and grav compensators. Its capable of carrying 166.8 D Tons of cargo. The airlocks are arranged port starboard and forward. The cargo hatches are arranged port and starboard. The cargo airlock is 16 meters long, 3.3 meters high and 6 meters wide and is aft and accessed by a 20m2 hatch.
Volume: 2800m3
Mass: 2901.2188/ 565.4375 tonnes
Price: MCr 13.557251
Crew: None
Passengers: None
Tech Level: 10 (A)
Features: 100 mw Fusion Power Plant, 100 mw/Hit, 6 months Endurance, 85.417mw excess.
Note: I envisioned the EV module as the center place of a large recovery operation. Drop next to it a 29 ton habitation module or several advanced bases and connect them all with a "docking tube", add both an E and M shop to the module and a company salvage operation is born.

I'm still putting the chrome on a starport module that I'll post in a couple of days.
As always plese enjoy the designs
Roger
