I don't know if this will help, but World Tamers
Handbook states that livestock low berths are identicle to emergency low berths
but cary 10 rations worth of live stock.
As far as the definition of the term ration in
order for the above to be of any help, it also states that rations can be
shipped at 100 per displacement ton. So, a cubic meter can hold about 7.15
rations, and a ration is enough food (dead food, or alive apparently) to feed
one man for one day.
The weight of a ration seems to be, if you
extrapolate the load that rations put on a colonies transport system, 0.1 kg per
ration. Maybe that's an average. Seems kinda low.
