That's a good question. How thin can rope get yet
still be strong enough to hold someone? How thick does it need to be for a
person to get a good grip on it and, in essence be functional? Spider silk has
some tremendous properties, yet it's thin size makes it useless for practical
rope-like applications. Can rope be made from carbon nanotubes? Or is it limited
to space elevator aspirations?

Also very interesting, there'll be a limit to size reduction I reckon but if
something like 550 parachute cord were used I think advanced tech could make it
smaller still...
