That's why I think the newer designs are basically lightweight, freefloating buoys anchored away
from the coastline. I've seen designs that are basically a shutter vane system that takes energy
from the wave crest and trough, rather than the entire tidal surge.

The key to making alternative energy successful is accepting the fact that one will have to get by
on the generation of less power than through more traditional means. Widespread acceptance of
energy miser electrical appliances and the use of lightweight materials in transportation
technology probably are more critical than the power generation method itself.
