[Traveller_TNE] Stupid Lasers

Part of thread: [Traveller_TNE] Stupid Lasers · 0 replies ↳ In reply to [Traveller_TNE] Stupid Lasers — Gerry Harris

Hi Gerry (and all),

<< First things first, my first post since recently joining ... and I'm enjoying the read of recent discussions. This email comes to you from Perth, Australia. >>

I have created a subdirectory within this Yahoo group at FILE > DJG_P. Into here I've uploaded spreadsheets and write-ups of personal DEI laser weaponry that I haven't touched for a few years. All of this is from the original edition of FFS. If memory serves, all of the attached are of the tuneable type. (I'll keep these uploaded files in place for a couple of weeks before deleting them again to free up the space.)

I designed the above originally for a TNE campaign that I started as a hobby many years ago, but now has taken on a life of its own.

I invite all to have a lookie at these files and please offer any constructive criticism. If anyone wishes to modify or use any of the attached for their usage, please do so and I hope that it is of use to you.

Cheers to all,

Dave (DJ) Gibson

I'm doing up personnel lasers.

I wouldn't even attempt these blasted things without a spreadsheet.  I'm not even going to mess with "tunable" lasers.  I don't have the patience or the time.

Are you talking about the lasers on p 354 in the main rule book? In
that case I'm pretty sure they where designed with a early version of
FFS or simply made up. IIRC someone confirmed that this was the case
for a couple of the vehicles in the book. I don't have the RC
equipment guide handy but I believe the designs in that book are
correct (except for the changes for fusion weapons from the Challange
#76/Striker II article "Putting the heat back into plasma").

I hope you have a spreadsheet. :)

The main advantage of lasers IMO is their high hit probability.
