The prototype spacesuit is made from "...a stretchy, skinlike polymer that
encases the body in a flexible shrink-wrap, applying pressure that prevents the
wearer from exploding in the vacuum of space. Conventional space suits cocoon an
astronaut in a bubble of pressurized air and weigh more than 100 pounds. The
Bio-Suit is not only much lighter but could also be outfitted with chemical
sensors, wearable computers, and thermal threads for controlling body
temperature."
