Let me take my Marc/FFE hat off for a moment. (Yes, Marc is still interested in TNE...)
Rodge: Mr. Sanger is off-limits by Traveller fandom largely because of the perception of the DGP IPs and what can be done with them. Marc and I both stay in contact with him. Folks in the Seattle area may run into him from time to time at RPG events. I'm ever hopeful that something with the IPs might change (I try annually). If you are really curious, drop me a private e-mail. It's very involved. For now, if FFE wants to do something with the DGP IPs, Marc can, and if another licensee wants to use them, Marc or I need to write it and follow a process outlined by Rodge. It's actually simple, but every time I explain it, the licensee walks away out of boredom (I'm serious...).
Leroy: This is a much more difficult case. I've had both sides explained to me by folks in Colorado (the gaming community out there appears to be fairly pro-Leroy or indifferent), but basically Leroy got in trouble, and ultimately spent some time in prison. The writeups are available through Google. For his side of it, Leroy basically just wants to be left alone, and the trouble has nothing to do with Traveller or his authorship.
Marc does try to track down old-timers. It still annoys me that Jeff (Zeitlin) and I failed to get our hands on the Clay Bush papers those years ago. And I've bugged all the great ones on old materials (and Frank Chadwick has been very helpful on errata issues, including permission to use some of his post-GDW Command Decision elements in the TNE errata). But if someone can think of someone I haven't annoyed yet, drop me a personal note.
